"Về Quê"

"Về Quê"

It's "Coming Home" in Vietnamese.

Tran Manh Tuan has long been my favorite Vietnamese saxophonist. His music carries both technical mastery and deep emotion, and he has breathed new life into many songs by the legendary romantic songwriter Trịnh Công Sơn.

This particular CD features nine tracks, each one a familiar melody transformed by his soulful saxophone. Listening to it feels like stepping back into the countryside of my childhood. The sound brings back the scent of rice fields after the rain, the laughter of children chasing each other at dusk, the simple joy of running barefoot on warm village paths.

I remember the freedom of flying kites against the wide blue sky, the clumsy falls when I first tried to ride a bicycle, and the quiet evenings when families gathered outside under oil lamps. These small moments, once forgotten, return so vividly through his interpretation.

For me, this CD is more than music—it is memory, nostalgia, and a bridge connecting the present with the innocence of the past. Every note carries both longing and comfort. Truly, it brings it all back.
